It is just one part of the Alzheimer's Society work to create more dementia friendly communities. It is about giving more people an understanding of dementia and the small things that could make a difference to people living with dementia in their community.
As a Dementia Friends Champion, I am not an expert on dementia. I am a volunteer who has committed to help lead the Dementia Friends initiative to create dementia friendly communities. I have received the training I need to enable me to provide a Dementia Friends Information Session to groups of people in my area.
The Information Session tells people a little bit more about what it is like to live with dementia, and encourages them to turn understanding into action.
From helping someone find the right bus, to spreading the word about dementia through Facebook or Twitter, every action counts.
If you would like to attend an Information Session, you can visit the Dementia Friends website to find a list of upcoming Session dates and venues in your area. I will be scheduling a number of Information Sessions in Derby in the coming months, and you will find these Sessions listed on there.
If you are a member of a Group or Organisation who would like to host an Information Session for your members, I am able to join you at your venue throughout Derby and the surrounding area. Please get in touch with me if you'd like more information, or you can contact Dementia Friends direct on the relevant link below.
Thank you for your interest in Dementia Friends. Every action counts.
